Above Ground Melter



Sulphurnet offers a wide range of sulphur melting systems based on the quality of the sulphur feed as well as the required quality of the sulphur at the outlet system. 

We also offer solutions to increase the capacity of melting plants. All our systems are design with an Above Ground Melter. 

Sulphurnet melters are above ground tanks with steam coils. The steam coils provide the energy required for melting solid sulphur. The tank has a conical bottom and is executed with a brick internal lining as corrosion prevention. To intensify the melting rate the melter is execution with an agitator. 

The agitator has numerous functions; increasing the velocity of the sulphur along the heating coils, keeping solids in suspension and also to improve the neutralization by improving the contact with lime. 

To guarantee a good operation, the geometric factors, such as the coil desing, agitator choice, position of the solid sulphur inlet, are analysed with a CFD simulator.

Polishing Filter



Liquid Sulphur Polishing Filter is used for the removal of fine particles passing the primaty pressure leaf filters. Fine solids, such as ashes and filter-aids, are removed to a level of less than 5 ppm for particles smaller than 5 micron. 

The porous ceramic filter cartridge is specially designed for the polishing of liquid sulphur. porous Ceramic cartridges are manufactured from aluminium oxide which exhibits a high chemical resistance and mechanical strength. The fine porous types with a smooth surface are particularly suitable for fine filtration utilizing back-washing by steam.


Porous ceramic filters are designed specially for the polishing filtration of liquid sulphur. 

These rugged porous ceramic cartridge are manufactured by fusing aluminium oxide grains using a porcelatin bond to form a strong, uniformly porous and homogeneus structure. 


Self-Cleaning Candle Filter



The primary purpose of the Self-Cleaning Candle Filter (SCCF) is to achieve the most optimal filtration results and to remove any remaining contaminants from the sulphur. A filtration efficiency as low as 5 ppm can be achieved.

Pressure Leaf Filter



The pressure leaf filter removes contaminants, such as ash and bitumen, which can plug the catalys mass downstram in the Converter. 

Some of the advantages are: 

  • Decreases maintenance costs and improves the operation time of the plant
  • Reduction of contamination reduces the acidity of the sulphur and reduces corrosion
  • Retractable tank and fixed cover, no need to disconnect pipelines for cleaning procedures.

Storage tank with external heating design



Sulphur tanks engineering package includes:

Self-Cleaning Sulphur Strainer

The objective of the Self-Cleaning Sulphur Strainer is to remove unwanted particles from liquid sulphur. A very effective system where pre- or final filtration in the 30-1000 micron range is required.

Benefits for sulphur recovery plants: 

  • Loss of sulphur is minimal
  • Drainage is controlled independently by a control system
  • Number of moving parts is limited
  • There is no need for external assistance
  • The best sealing materials are used to suit sulphur processing
  • No components require lubrication. This results in minimal maintenance and zero contamination of the liquid by the lubricant
  • Can be fitted with a filter strainer rated at 30, 50, 75, 100, 150, 300, 500 or 1000 microns.
