The primary purpose of the Liquid Sulphur Filter is to remove contaminants such as ashes and bitumen that might plug the catalyst mass downstream in the Converter. The removal of solids contaminants decreases maintenance costs and improves the operation time of the sulphuric acid plant.
Reduction of contamination reduces the acidity of the Sulphur and reduces corrosion.
The Liquid Sulphur Filter is a horizontal filter tank with vertically positioned filter leafs. The tank is fully steam jacketed on sides, dish heads cover closure and all nozzle connection.
The filter on the left is positioned on rails, and during opening the filter, the filter leaf bundle remains stationary at all times, eliminating possible premature cake dropping during retraction.
The filter on the right is mounted in a overhead frame. This gives operators better access to the filter leaf bundle. This simplifies the cleaning, offers better cake release and less damages of filter leafs.
