Gas Desulphurisation Filters

The SCCF SELF CLEANING CANDLE FILTER is a pressure filter with vertical hanging candles in a vertical tank with a cone bottom or drop door for dry cake discharge.

The SELF CLEANING CANDLE FILTER can be used for a variety of applications.
It can be applied either for polishing filtration operations with low solid loads or preliminary filtrations with relative high solid contents.

The filter candles are made out of Polypropylene or 316 SS and are covered with a filter media that immediately yields a clear filtrate flow.
The flow direction is directed from outside to inside. The cake will be retained at the filter media surface.

After completion of the filtration cycle the cake is washed with solvent and dried, using compressed air or (inert) gases.
The dry cake discharge takes place by a gas pulse from the reverse direction. During the back flush cycle the filter media expands and the filter cake cracks and drops.

The environment is a further area for the SCCF SELF CLEANING CANDLE FILTER. In particular it has established itself in flue gas desulphurisation (FGD) from waste incineration. The applications include various processes from many different companies. Very often, however, wash solutions with corrosive properties are involved, which set great demands on the materials of construction. Such plants, in most cases, are low-manned which means that full-automation is a prerequisite. In addition to this, a dry discharge is essential in order to reduce volumes which eventually must be disposed.

Natural and synthesized gases often contain hydrogen sulphide which must be removed. The so-called "gas sweetening" using an amine solution is the most widely-used method. Here the gases are washed in a counter current washing column and the dissolved hydrogen sulphide separated in a later step using steam. Fines, worn from the piping, collect in the amine solution, which ultimately lead to blocking and foam generation in the column. SCCF SELF CLEANING CANDLE FILTER for clearing these streams and discharging either wet or dry cakes have yielded excellent results.
